Ladies, Galentine's Day is almost here and it is time to show some love to the leading ladies in your life!!! On February 13th, women all around will be celebrating with each other to show how much they care about each other. Galentine's Day, for those who don’t know, is an unofficial holiday originating from the American comedy, Parks and Recreation. It’s meant to serve as a day for “ladies to celebrate ladies” and Denver Free Fun has plenty of ideas for you and your girls to have fun.
If you are in the mood for a classy, fun time to get together with your Galentine's, then brunch is the way to go. The Lobby on 22nd and Larimer has some of the best brunch deals and comfort food around with exposed brick and stained glass for a beautiful dining experience. Not to mention it has bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys until 3 pm everyday. With the 60° weather on Tuesday, it may be a perfect spot for brunch. Or if you are looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, go to Syrup where they have everything from s’mores pancakes to Nutella-stuffed french toast to beignets. Syrup has three separate locations in the Denver metro area: Cherry Creek, Downtown Denver and City Park.
Looking for a way to destress??? You and your gal pals should hit the spa for a relaxing time to connect and bond. At Jalan Facial Spa, traditional Asian culture is mixed with modern designs and techniques, creating a unique urban experience. Treatments start at $35 and range from facials to massages to “Reflexology”, a type of guided meditation with paraffin and other treatments happening simultaneously. Getting there 30 minutes early includes going on the complimentary “Jalan Journey,” where you are served lemongrass tea, a 5 minute foot bath and can spend the rest of your time in a meditation garden or an aromatherapy room. There is no membership programs, so there is no pressure to join one and walk-in appointments are accepted.
After a busy day of work and family, wine tastings with your girls could be exactly what you need to unwind from the daily responsibilities!!! Deep Roots Winery and Bistro offers unique wines made with integrity, passion, and individuality. They say that their trademark flavor is something “unique, but familiar” creating a delicious variety of wines. If you or any of your friends have any little ones, no problem as Deep Roots is considered family-friendly and offers non-alcoholic beverages as well as dining options.
As great as it is to get out with some of your closest friends, you may want to just have a small gathering at home and binge-watch the show that started Galentine’s day on Netflix. If this is the case, consider a simple dessert potluck. You and your friends could pick up a variety of sweet treats from the french bakery, Detour Bakery, on Holly Street, for pastries. If you are looking for mini treats, Nothing Bundt Cakes provides bite-sized cakes plus platters with a huge mix of flavors. You can find them on Colorado Boulevard. Honey B’s Macarons are another option, are deliciously unique and would be a great addition to any party with flavors ranging from coconut to rose to pink peppercorn.
Looking for an active and fun class to go to with some fellow ladies? This Galentine’s day, at L’Ru Studio, circus classes are being offered, which help expand your flexibility, partner and solo acro, and circus apparatuses such as fabric and trapeze. Or if you are feeling a little more adventurous, there is a beginning pole dancing class available at the same time, where you and your friends can learn the basics and how to put them together. Keep in mind though, you have to call in at least an hour ahead to be a part of the class.
No matter what you do this Galentine's day, make sure you spend it with the women in your life who are important, and give them the appreciation that they deserve. Whether you stay in or have a day full of adventures, make sure to fill the day with fun!!!
